Historical Association Fellowship

It’s been a long old summer, and there hasn’t been a lot of rest. I’ve spent most of it revising my article on John Haywood for publication, checking the proofs for John Balshaw’s Jigge (more to come on this soon, but… Spoiler Alert- it’s now on sale through the Regional Heritage Centre at Lancaster University) and most time consumingly, putting together my 3rd year special subject on early modern news culture.

So it was nice this week to make an overnight trip to London with my husband, to attend the Historical Association Awards Evening where I was presented with my Honorary Fellowship by the HA President, Peter Mandler.

There were 16 Honorary Fellowships awarded this year, and it was lovely to be in such good company (yes, this is me standing next to the previous president of the Royal Historical Society, Margot Finn…)

The other bonus of the trip to London was a chance to get back to the British Library, where I was able to renew my reader pass and look at lots of interesting documents. I’m looking forward to spending some time transcribing some of the interesting stuff that I found, although I have no idea when I’m going to have time to do it…
