Just a quick post, to keep up the routine really but also to point out that I took a holiday. An actual holiday in Anglesey during which I did no research, looked at no emails, and didn’t check my calendar.

What I did look at was the sea and the sunset. I took a day trip to Dublin. I came across history when it was in front of me, but I didn’t go looking for it. It was lovely.

And it is important that I make a note of this. There is a culture of overwork in academia, and I am as guilty of it as anyone, but this last week was absolutely not about work, it was about finding peace and stillness, and I feel better for it.
